Ebonyi State is moving to equip schools with cutting-edge digital infrastructure. The modernisation drive includes CCTV systems, computers, and internet access across educational facilities.

Donatus Ilang, the Education Commissioner, made this known over the weekend. He spoke while meeting with delegates from Huawei and Smart Brain School at his Abakaliki office.

According to Ilang, Governor Francis Nwifuru has made education a priority. The administration is backing this commitment with substantial investment in infrastructure development.

Twenty-one new classroom blocks are under construction across all 13 local government areas. Most of these projects are near completion, Ilang noted.

The move aims to strengthen learning environments and raise standards in public schools. It'll also widen access to quality education statewide, he added.

Huawei and Smart Brain School say they're here to help. Both organisations want to align Ebonyi's education sector with global digital best practices.

Israel Ojobe from Smart Brain School explained their mission at the meeting. His team, led by Amaka, will roll out several technology packages for schools.

They've already toured schools across all three senatorial zones. During these visits, they assessed current facilities and identified gaps requiring modern equipment.

Ojobe believes the initiative will give Ebonyi students a competitive edge. Schools here will better prepare learners for a technology-focused future, he insisted.

Digital literacy among students will improve significantly through this project. Schools visited included ICT University Oferekpe in Izzi, Girls High School Azuiyiokwu, and Kpakpaji High School in Ezza South.
