Leaders, elders, women and youths from Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for second terms, while urging former lawmaker, Hon. Solomon Ahwinahwi, to contest the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in 2027.
The resolutions were reached at an enlarged gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders held in Ughelli over the weekend, where participants unanimously adopted the twin decisions through a voice vote.
Speaking for the three local government areas, Chief Gabriel Ojoba (Ughelli North), Chief Macaulay Dase (Ughelli South), and Elder Gabriel Ighosueta (Udu) said their call on Ahwinahwi was informed by his experience, political strength and capacity to provide effective representation.
They noted that at a critical stage in Nigeria’s development, both Tinubu and Oborevwori require seasoned lawmakers to support policies aimed at strengthening governance and consolidating ongoing achievements.
The leaders maintained that after careful consideration, Ahwinahwi emerged as the most suitable aspirant, citing his track record, network and commitment to the constituency.
Support for his candidacy was also echoed by political pressure groups, including Unique Ambassadors for Good Governance, U-3 Crusaders, and Delta Queens Football Club, whose representatives—Mr Emmanuel Esesiobe, Chief Duke Arhere and Hon. Mercy Awana-Alakis—described him as a dependable leader capable of improving representation.
The motion endorsing Tinubu and Oborevwori for second terms, alongside the call for Ahwinahwi to contest in 2027, was moved by former Ughelli South Council Chairman, Mr Monday Emuvakpor, seconded by Chief Bestman Iteveh, and put to a voice vote by Chief George Ushere. It was unanimously adopted by participants at the meeting.
