Delta APC set to honour Omo-Agege’s outstanding representative leadership with homecoming celebration

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege Homecoming Celebration Committee has announced that plans have been concluded to honour the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, His Excellency, Most Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, over his notable achievements and outstanding representative leadership while in office as a Senator.

According to a statement signed by Sir Sunny Areh (Co-Chairman, Media Committee of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege Homecoming Celebration), the ceremony is scheduled for April 6th, 2024, at the Oil City Motel in Ughelli Town, is expected to be graced by prominent figures from various sectors, especially in politics and public governance.

 

He disclosed that event is a testament to Senator Omo-Agege’s extraordinary contributions to public governance at the national level. Adding that the decision to celebrate Omo-Agege was reached during a gathering of elected, appointed, and other leaders of the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Abuja a few weeks ago.

The meeting was spearheaded by Senator Ede Dafinone and Senator Joel Onowakpo, representing Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts respectively, in the 10th Senate. The co-chairmanship of the organizing committee includes the revered Oracle of Politics, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

Recall that Senator Omo-Agege’s tenure in the National Assembly was characterized by remarkable achievements, despite his delayed arrival in 2016. Notably, he is recognized as one of the highest sponsors of bills and motions during his time in office. His legislative prowess was demonstrated with the drafting and passage of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) Establishment Act, which conferred a unique status upon the institution within the Nigerian oil and gas sector.

Building on this success, Senator Omo-Agege facilitated the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic Orogun (FEPO) and the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, demonstrating his commitment to advancing education and research in Nigeria. Additionally, his dedication to infrastructure development and human capital enhancement has left a lasting impact on communities across Delta State.

He added that Senator Omo-Agege’s inclusive political approach has contributed to the growth of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and beyond. His unwavering commitment to progressive values and the empowerment of the people has garnered widespread approval among the electorate.

In light of these achievements, the homecoming celebration serves as a momentous occasion to express gratitude and recognition for Senator Omo-Agege’s exemplary leadership. All citizens are encouraged to participate in this event to honor a leader whose contributions have significantly impacted the lives of many.

The statement reads in part:

“Again, with his FEPO vision clarified and running through deliberate actions, Senator Omo-Agege identified another great opportunity in the academic environment and took it when he secured the Federal Government’s approval for the establishment of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale. Another legacy act in productive representative leadership.

“In terms of infrastructural projects and human development, Senator Omo-Agege’s enviable legacy of resourceful, impactful and innovative approach to public governance is evident in Nigeria, Delta’s three senatorial districts, and more particularly in virtually all communities in Delta Central. With him, a great number of our leaders and people have made undeniable positive gains in the public and private sectors. A noiseless helper of our people.

“Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s politics of inclusion has also brought tremendous progressive gains to our people. Calling up on all his unique strengths, he has worked with other leaders to grow the electoral and appointive fortunes of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and beyond. His campaign to govern Delta State in the last general elections clearly speaks to our people’s overwhelming approval of his organic populist leadership. A leader with uncommon courage, progressive values and convictions and firm faith in the power of the people.

“It is to these ends and much more that our people are overjoyed with the homecoming celebration ceremony in honour of Obarisi Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. The wisdom behind the idea itself is unassailable.
