The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie, has described the continued claim by Chief Francis Obigbor, Deputy State Chairman, to be the acting State Chairman as not only fallacious but a flagrant disregard for the party constitution.
The State Chairman in a statement signed by the party's Publicity Secretary, Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo warned Obigbor to desist from such a press release claiming to be the acting State Chairman henceforth or will face severe disciplinary actions.
The statement emphasized that since the resumption of duty by the party State Chairman after his medical leave, as communicated to the State Working Committee, SWC, in a letter dated 2nd of December 2024 that was copiously made available to the general public, Obigbor can not continue to claim to be acting chairman.
The statement Reads: "The attention of the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, has been drawn to a press statement purportedly signed and released by Chief Francis Obigbor, Deputy State Chairman, claiming to be the acting State Chairman of the Party in flagrant disregard of the provisions of the constitution of the Party and without due process and authorization by the State Chairman.
"For the avoidance of doubt and purpose of clarity, Chief Francis Obigbor is NOT the acting State Chairman as the State Chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie had expressly informed members of the State Working Committee SWC of his official resumption of duty in a letter dated 2nd of December, 2024 that was copiously made available to the general public.
"In consequence of the above, the fallacious continuous claims of Chief Francis Obigbor Deputy State Chairman to be the acting State Chairman, aside from its ludicrity, is an aberration that is criminal in nature and also a gross violation of Article 21:2(i)(ii)(iii)(iv) of the Party's constitution that warrants severe disciplinary measures if not terminated forthwith. Chief Francis Obigbor is sternly warned to desist from such a press release claiming to be the acting State Chairman henceforth.
"The Party, therefore, seizes this opportunity to inform the general public to disregard any such press releases or statements by Chief Francis Obigbor as acting State Chairman as same is designed to achieve mischief and bring the reputation of the Party into public opprobrium."
