Again, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State has reaffirmed the position of Chief Paulinus Akpeki as Acting APC Chairman in Delta State following Elder Omeni Sobotie's absence due to medical reasons.

In a statement issued on Saturday, by Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, the party clarified its position that Chief Paulinus Akpeki is confirmed as the Acting State Chairman, stressing that its position aligns with the provisions of the APC Constitution, Article 14:2(iii).

The statement highlighted that the position of Acting State Chairman is determined by geographical alignment within the party structure. "As Elder Sobotie hails from Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Akpeki, the State Vice Chairman from the same district, qualifies to act as State Chairman."

The APC emphasized that this arrangement ensures leadership continuity, reflects the party's zoning policy, and sustains political stability. "The majority of the State Working Committee (SWC) members endorsed this interpretation, voting to confirm Chief Akpeki's appointment.

The statement dismissed contrary opinions, notably from Deputy State Chairman, Barr. Francis Obigbor, describing them as distractions. Members were urged to stay focused on strengthening the party's structure for upcoming elections.

The statement added that the decision underscores the APC’s commitment to constitutional adherence and regional balance in leadership succession within Delta State.
