Declare emergency on failed federal road in Anambra – CLO urges FG

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State over the failed Nkwelle-Nsugbe-Umueri-Aguleri federal road.

Chairman of CLO in Anambra, Mr. Vincent Ezekwueme, said this in a statement, describing it as a fervent and life-saving appeal to President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Work, Chief David Umahi, and the Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency.

Ezekwueme told reporters on Tuesday that President Tinubu should send his minister of works to the dilapidated and dreadful road out of patriotism and generosity.

According to him, the road has made life miserable, agonising, and horrifying for individuals who live along the axis.

He stated that poor road conditions had worsened insecurity in some areas of Anambra and the neighbouring outh-east  state of Enugu.

“Instead of acting as a link, the road has isolated the vast majority of our people due to its failed state.

“Those living or coming in have been cut off completely due to the unreachable and appalling state of the road currently,” he said.
