Senator Ede Dafinone has called on the people of Delta Central and the Urhobo Nation to embrace love, unity and reconciliation as the true essence of Christmas, urging them to reflect on the gains and challenges of 2025 while preparing for the future.

In his Christmas message titled “Merry Christmas to the People of Delta Central,” the Senator described Christmas as “not just a season of celebration, but also a season of deep reflection,” encouraging the people to give thanks to God for His blessings over the past year.

“As we celebrate Christmas 2025, I urge us all to reflect with gratitude on the many blessings God has bestowed upon us,” Dafinone said, adding that the period calls for sober reflection “on the gains we have recorded as a people—especially as Urhobo people, as Deltans, and as Nigerians in 2025—and also on the challenges we encountered in the course of the year.”

The lawmaker emphasised that Christmas symbolises love, noting that “the undying love of God revealed through Jesus Christ” should inspire compassion and kindness among the people. “God gave His only begotten Son to redeem humanity and reconcile us to Himself. This powerful act of love should inspire us, especially in this season, to extend love, kindness, and compassion to one another,” he stated.

Dafinone further urged the people of Delta Central and the entire Urhobo Nation to use the festive season to strengthen communal bonds. “Let us be our brother’s keeper. Let us bear one another’s burdens, show understanding, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as families, communities, and people. This, indeed, is the true meaning of Christmas,” he said.

He also called for reconciliation across personal and political divides, describing Christmas as an opportunity to heal old wounds. “Let this Christmas be a season of reconciliation, among family members, friends, and political associates. Let us seize this opportunity to forgive one another and move forward together with renewed vigour, fresh hope, and clarity of purpose,” Dafinone said, as he looked ahead to “the journey towards 2027.”

The Senator concluded by wishing the people of Delta Central and the Urhobo Nation a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, reaffirming his commitment to their service.
