The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has expressed his condolences to the Ibru family of Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area over the passing of their wife and mother, Mrs. Edna Ibru.

Mrs. Ibru, wife of the late Olorogun Senator Felix Ibru, the first Executive Governor of Delta State, passed away after a brief illness in a London hospital, according to her son, Dr. Paul Aidido Ibru.

Mrs. Edna Ibru (née Park), who was crowned Miss Nigeria in 1964, was also the first Nigerian and African to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant.

In a signed statement, Senator Dafinone described the late Mrs. Edna Ibru as an industrious woman who successfully balanced her family responsibilities with her career.

He said: "On behalf of the Dafinone family and the great people of Delta Central Senatorial District, I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the Ibru family on the loss of their wife, mother, and grandmother, who passed away after a brief illness.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We pray that God will comfort you and grant you the strength to bear this irreparable loss.

"Mrs. Edna Ibru will be deeply missed for the lives she touched through her good deeds. We also pray for the peaceful repose of her soul."
