Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Senator Joel Onowakpo-Thomas on their emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidates for Delta North and Delta South, respectively.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dafinone described their victories at the APC senatorial primaries as a reflection of the confidence and trust party stakeholders and delegates have in their leadership.
“I heartily congratulate the former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, on their emergence as the Senatorial Candidates of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for Delta North and Delta South Senatorial Districts respectively,” Dafinone stated.
According to him, the outcome of the primaries clearly demonstrated the support both candidates enjoy across their respective senatorial districts.
“Their victories clearly reflect the confidence and trust reposed in them by delegates, party leaders, and stakeholders across both senatorial districts,” he added.
The Delta Central lawmaker also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries across the state, describing the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and a further indication of the growing democratic culture within the APC in Delta State.
“I am also delighted by the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primaries across Delta State. The process once again demonstrated the unity, strength, and growing democratic culture within our great party,” he said.
Dafinone noted that the emergence of experienced political figures like Okowa and Onowakpo-Thomas would further strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The emergence of experienced leaders like Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas further strengthens our party and positions the APC strongly for victory ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
He called on party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders across Delta State to remain united and committed to the collective goals of the party.
“I encourage all party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders across the three senatorial districts to remain united and committed to our collective vision of progress, development, and quality representation for the people of Delta State,” Dafinone stated.
