Customs Seeks Traditional Leaders’ Help to Tackle Food Price Hike in Nigeria

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recently sought the support of traditional leaders and other key stakeholders.

Acting Controller of the Federal Operation Unit, FOU, Zone ‘D’, Joseph Adelaja, made this appeal during a visit to the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Barkido Aliyu-Mustapha.

Adelaja emphasized that the current trend of food price increases is largely due to illicit hoarding and exportation of food commodities.

He highlighted the importance of national and food security as the responsibility of every patriotic Nigerian and called for collaborative efforts to overcome the challenges faced by the country.

The Acting Controller further mentioned the illegal exportation of petroleum products, which has caused significant hardship for the citizens.

He stressed the need for all stakeholders and members of the public to support the government in tackling these issues, as this is a critical period in Nigeria’s national life.

In response, the Lamido of Adamawa, represented by the Galadima of Adamawa, Mustapha Amin, assured the Nigeria Customs Service of their support.

The monarch praised the Service’s positive contributions to the economy and national security.

This development highlights the importance of collaboration between government agencies and traditional leaders in addressing pressing issues that affect the Nigerian population.

By working together, the Customs Service and other stakeholders can help to control the hike in food prices and ensure food security for the country.
