Cross River Government Blames Poor Infrastructure and Empty Treasury on Predecessor

The Cross River Government has attributed the state’s poor infrastructure and empty treasury to the previous administration led by Benedict Ayade.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ankpo Edet, disclosed this information during a press briefing in Calabar on Wednesday, April 4, 2024.

Edet stated that Governor Bassey Otu’s administration inherited significant challenges in terms of infrastructure and financial resources.

Despite these challenges, the government has made progress in rehabilitating roads and improving urban development across the state.

The Commissioner emphasized that the current administration is committed to completing all ongoing projects and not abandoning any tasks started by previous governments.

He highlighted the significant work being done on the parliamentary extension road, which is intended to serve as a super highway for the state.

The Cross River Government’s efforts to address the state’s infrastructure issues and financial constraints are part of its broader agenda to improve the living conditions of its citizens and stimulate economic growth.

As the government continues to invest in road rehabilitation and other infrastructure projects, the impact of these efforts on the state’s development and the well-being of its residents will be closely monitored.

The ongoing infrastructure challenges and financial management in Cross River State have sparked discussions about the importance of effective governance and resource allocation in Nigeria.

The government’s response to these challenges will be a key factor in determining the state’s future economic and social progress.
