Controversial Proposal: Nigerian Police Force PRO Faces Backlash for Suggesting Collaboration with Illegal Gun Makers

The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has come under fire for proposing a partnership with suspected illegal gun manufacturers in the country.

Adejobi’s controversial suggestion has sparked diverse opinions among Nigerians on social media.

The Force recently raided an illegal gun factory in Jos, the Plateau State capital, where rifles are fabricated.

Among the items recovered from the facility were two AK-47 rifles, nine automatic pistols, 1,800 rounds of live ammunition, and fabricating machines.

Sharing a picture of the seized locally fabricated pistols on his X account, Adejobi marvelled at the talents of the gun makers and suggested that their skills could be put to good use.

Critics argue that by openly suggesting a collaboration with suspected criminals, the Force PRO is encouraging illegal gun manufacturing.

They believe that the public doesn’t need to hear about the NPF’s plans to use these talents for good, and that Adejobi’s job is to discourage crime, not give kudos to “talents” used for criminal activities.

On the other hand, supporters of the proposal believe that the government should put the fabricators to good use, as their knowledge could be valuable in the fight against crime.

They argue that if the government doesn’t put the fabricators to good use, criminals will.

The controversy surrounding Adejobi’s proposal highlights the need for the Nigerian government to consider new ways to combat crime and harness the skills of its citizens, while also addressing the concerns of those who believe that such partnerships could send the wrong message to the public.

The Force PRO’s suggestion has sparked a lively debate on social media, with both critics and supporters expressing their views on the matter.

Ultimately, the decision on whether or not to work with the suspected illegal gun makers will be up to the Nigerian government, as they weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks of such a partnership.
