Celebrating 20 Years of NSCDC’s Successful Operations and Achievements

The National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been making waves in Nigeria for the past 20 years, successfully safeguarding national assets and coordinating intelligence with other security agencies.

A rights group, Save Nigeria Movement, has recently conducted a study on the Corps’ activities and found them deserving of praise.

The NSCDC was established to tackle the increasing threats against public assets, including sabotage, vandalisation of electrical installations, oil pipelines, railway tracks, and theft from government institutions.

The Corps has consistently performed beyond expectations, tackling these crimes and apprehending criminals responsible.

Under the leadership of Dr. Audi Abubakar, the current Commandant General (CG), the 36 Commands, including the FCT, have maintained a high level of professionalism and effective civil engagement.

The European Union and other Election Observer groups have recognized the NSCDC for its corruption-free, professional conduct.

The Corps’ digital surveillance system has drastically reduced crimes such as vandalism, theft, and illegal mining.

The Safe School Initiative has also reduced the incidence of school abductions by deterring criminal elements who once exploited the porous nature of schools, particularly in rural areas.

The establishment of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) has led to high-profile successes, including thwarting kidnapping attempts and other criminal operations.

The Corps’ interventions in the Niger Delta region have brought an end to crude oil theft and the vandalisation of critical oil and gas installations, in line with the President’s economic recovery plan.

The NSCDC has joined the list of security agencies prioritizing women by establishing a Special Female Arms Squad.

These brave women have shown that given the right training, motivation, and opportunities, women can aspire to become leaders in their chosen fields.

The NSCDC has achieved remarkable milestones over the past 20 years, with a vote of confidence from Save Nigeria Movement.

The Corps has been commended for its prompt payment of salaries, timely promotion, training courses for personnel, and the establishment of training commands and office accommodations.
