Carlo Ancelotti will sign a four-year extension to remain Brazil's coach through the 2030 World Cup. The CBF made the announcement on Thursday.
The Italian took charge of Brazil last year and has already steered the team to qualification for next month's tournament in North America. He's targeting a sixth world title with the five-time champions.
At 66, Ancelotti spent months negotiating with federation officials over the deal. The talks are now in their final stages.
CBF president Samir Xaud told reporters he's "certain" the contract will be signed before the World Cup kicks off. Speaking at the FutPro Expo in Fortaleza, Xaud noted that legal representatives were putting finishing touches on the agreement.
Ancelotti has made clear he wants to stay on. His future with the national team is essentially locked in now.
On May 18, he'll announce his squad in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil play a farewell match against Panama at the Maracana on May 31.
Group C features Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti alongside the Brazilians. Bookmakers favour them heavily for the tournament.
Now that his position is secure through 2030, Ancelotti's sole focus is winning gold this summer. Everything else can wait.
