Senator Ibrahim Bomai has stepped aside from Yobe State's 2027 governorship race. The APC politician announced his exit on Saturday through a written statement.

Bomai represents Yobe South in the upper chamber. He said party leaders and stakeholders convinced him to withdraw.

"After extensive consultations, deep reflection, and discussions with stakeholders and respected elders, I have decided to step down from contesting the governorship position for Yobe State," he stated.

Unity and stability drove his decision, according to the senator. He'd previously sought the position to advance development and peace in Yobe.

His supporters showed remarkable loyalty throughout the journey, Bomai noted. He thanked them for their dedication to the cause.

The senator called on his backers to stay focused on state progress. Calm and cohesion remain crucial despite his withdrawal, he urged.

Two other APC aspirants recently exited the same race. Lawan Kolo Geidam and former police chief Usman Alkali Baba had both stepped down.

The withdrawals suggest major realignments within Yobe's ruling party. Competition for the ticket appears to be narrowing significantly.
