Former Lawmaker Ben Murray Bruce has called on President Bola Tinubu to issue an executive order halting all international travel by Federal government officials for one year.
The only exception would be for matters of critical national interest, requiring special approval.
Bruce made this appeal via his X handle on Monday, emphasizing that the international travel ban should apply to the entire federal cabinet and all civil servants.
However, the ban would not apply to External Affairs, Finance, and National Security.
The businessman explained that President Tinubu should issue an executive order to ensure that this travel ban is implemented for one year.
He further stated that officials should fly with Nigerian airlines unless there’s no available service on that route.
Additionally, international meetings should be conducted over Zoom to reduce the need for travel.
This move comes as a step towards prioritizing national interests and promoting more efficient use of government resources.
By limiting international travel, the government can focus on more pressing domestic issues and reduce unnecessary expenses.
