Ambassador Dare Bejide, ADC's governorship candidate, accused an APC chieftain of bringing cash to a polling unit in Ilawe-Ekiti on Saturday. The incident happened at Ward 2, Polling Unit 004, Oke Omieja.
Bejide told reporters the money sparked a confrontation that briefly halted voting activities. He claimed the individuals involved came from other wards and had no right being there.
According to him, his driver got hurt during the scuffle. Bejide said he alerted police officers at the scene about what happened.
The officers advised him to file a formal complaint in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. They promised to investigate further once he submitted the report.
CP Abayomi Shogunle, the state police commissioner overseeing the 2026 election, arrived at the polling unit to assess matters. He confirmed voting had resumed despite the earlier disruption.
"I came with my men and saw voting continuing," Shogunle told reporters. "There may have been a minor argument, but these things need settling peacefully."
Shogunle's presence seemed to calm tensions at the location. Voting proceeded without further incident after his intervention.
