Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo guber polls: IGP sends vehicles and other essentials to the states

To ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, which will take place on November 11, 2023, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the deployment of an additional 220 operational vehicles to the three states. The vehicles include water cannons, armoured personnel carriers, helmets, bulletproof vests, and tear gas canisters.

According to a statement by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, the IGP has also trained the police officers who will be involved in election security management and secured the approval of the federal government for their allowances and other necessary support to motivate them during operations.

The IGP appealed to all the stakeholders in the three states to maintain peace, respect the rule of law, and obey the law before, during, and after the elections. He warned that the police and other security agencies are ready to deal with any acts of violence or disruption that could affect the elections in any of the states.
