Paul Ibe, a spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that President Donald Trump now knows about court records tied to President Bola Tinubu's past legal troubles in America. Ibe claimed on X on Wednesday that a US lobbying firm called Batten Von provided Trump with access to Tinubu's 60-page Justice Department files concerning alleged heroin trafficking and a $460,000 asset forfeiture.
The aide argued that the Nigerian public deserves full transparency on the matter. "Finally, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 60-page DOJ files on heroine trafficking and forfeiture of $460,000 has been brought to the attention of @realDonaldTrump courtesy of a US lobbyist firm, @batten_von," Ibe wrote on the platform.
He referenced former Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega in his post, suggesting further revelations are pending. "Manuel Noriega on my mind.
Nigerians deserve to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The best is being saved for last," he added.
However, Ibe offered no proof that Trump received a briefing on the documents or details about any response from the American president. The aide also didn't specify what actions Trump may have taken following the alleged disclosure.
The claims remain unverified and haven't been independently confirmed by other sources or officials in either government.
