Atiku Abubakar won the African Democratic Congress presidential primary in Yobe State on Monday. He secured 44,841 votes in the election held at the party headquarters in Damaturu.

Hajiya Ma'am Kyari, who chaired the electoral committee, announced the results. Two other contenders trailed far behind in the voting.

Rotimi Chibuke Amechi polled just 300 votes. Mohamed Hayatudeen managed 365 votes in the contest.

Kyari told observers the primary was orderly and peaceful throughout. She said it followed all party regulations without incident.

"H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, is hereby declared winner," Kyari stated formally.

The former Vice President had won by a commanding margin.

She praised party members and security officials for their conduct. Election observers and staff also earned her commendation for professionalism.

All three aspirants and their teams behaved responsibly during voting. Kyari noted that decorum was maintained from start to finish.

Kassim Geidam, the ADC's gubernatorial candidate in Yobe, hailed the exercise. He called it successful, peaceful and deeply encouraging for party unity.

Geidam was impressed by voter turnout across all three zones. He said participation levels showed strong party commitment in the state.

Party executives and security forces earned his praise for fairness. Traditional rulers also got recognition for staying neutral throughout.

In his words, traditional leaders actively promoted peaceful political engagement. They refused to take sides and encouraged dialogue instead.

Journalists who covered the primary didn't escape his appreciation either. Geidam thanked the press for their balanced reporting and support.
