Group of armed men stormed the set of a public television channel in Ecuador, interrupting a live broadcast and terrorizing the staff.

The incident took place at the TC Television station in the port city of Guayaquil, where masked intruders brandished guns and explosives while shouting that they had bombs.

The terrifying scene unfolded during a news program that was airing live in thousands of homes across the nation.

No one was killed in the attack, and authorities later said that all the masked intruders had been arrested, 13 in total, and would be charged with terrorism.

President Daniel Noboa declared an "internal armed conflict" in response to the incident, highlighting the escalating violence in the country.

Ecuador has been facing a series of attacks following the government's imposition of a state of emergency in the wake of the apparent escape of a powerful gang leader from prison.
