Six members of the Civilian Joint Task Force died in a road crash in Borno State on Tuesday. Security sources said the accident happened along the Dikwa–Ngala Road in Dikwa Local Government Area.
The utility vehicle carrying the operatives flipped into nearby bushes between Gajigo and Ngala. Rocket-propelled grenades stored inside the vehicle exploded on impact, triggering a massive fire that killed all occupants.
In a separate tragedy, ten people died in a head-on collision on the Gombe–Kano Road on Monday. Seven others sustained serious injuries in the crash involving multiple travellers.
Community members and Islamic worshippers gathered at Bolari Mosque in Gombe for funeral prayers. They observed Salatul Janazah rites before burying the deceased, with mourners praying for the victims' families.
