The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Hon Emmanuel Egbabor has sued for a peaceful cco-existence among Nigerians as well as seek for assistance for families of fallen heroes who lost their lives during the First and Second World War and the the Biafra war.

The Chairman stated this yesterday in Ozoro the headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Council at a ceremony to mark the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Hon Egbabor, who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr Kome Ozue stated this while delivering his speech yesterday during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day set aside to honour the sacrifices of our fallen heroes of Nigeria both dead or alive whom out of their spirit of patriotism fought for the peace and unity of Nigeria.

He harped on the need for Nigerians and the good people of Isoko North Local Government Council to always remember these fallen heroes not only in January of every year but to reach out to their families and show them that the sacrifices of their breadwinners were not in vain.

According to Hon Emmanuel Egbabor; “As we honour these gallant heroes today, perhaps we should fight for peaceful co-existence and unity of all Nigerians irrespective of our political parties, our tribe, languages and culture.

“On this day of the remembrance of our gallant soldiers, let us rededicate ourselves to the ideals of national unity and be joined together by patriotic fervour and a passion to serve. Let us therefore resist the temptation to create tensions in the land just to satisfy the inordinate ambitions of certain individuals.”

He noted that, over the past five years in Isoko North Local Government Area, the Local Government have partnered with the security agencies to have a Local Government Area that is peaceful, safe and secured.

“We have given the people a reason to go out there and undertake their legitimate businesses without entertaining any fear over their lives or safety. The cardinal reason why government was established remains the guarantee of safety of persons and property and this, we have done exceedingly well.”

“We must honour their memory by doing all we can to negate those issues and tendencies that had led us to war in the first instance. Let us therefore resist the temptation to create tensions in the land just to satisfy the inordinate ambitions of certain individuals.” Hon Egbabor added.
