Ayo Arise, an APC chieftain and 2027 Ekiti North Senate hopeful, has denounced the attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eda Oniyo. Suspected bandits invaded the worship centre in Ilejemeje Local Government Area this week.
A pastor died in the assault. Multiple worshippers were abducted during the raid.
Arise issued a statement Wednesday condemning what he called a barbaric and inexcusable act. He extended sympathies to residents and families who lost loved ones in the incident.
According to him, communities deserve better than fear and bloodshed. Places of worship, he noted, should remain safe havens where people seek God's grace.
He called on the Nigeria Police Force to act fast. Other security agencies must help identify and prosecute those responsible, he insisted.
The former senator warned that allowing perpetrators to escape justice would embolden more attacks. Swift security responses, he argued, would rebuild public trust and discourage future violence.
Arise urged residents and community leaders to share intelligence with security forces. Cooperation between citizens and government, in his view, strengthens surveillance networks and protects neighbourhoods.
Such partnerships enable people to worship without anxiety. They also allow residents to pursue daily activities freely and securely.
He pledged to champion security improvements across Ekiti North Senatorial District. All towns and communities in Ekiti State will benefit from his commitment, Arise assured.
