Arewa Leader Condemns Verbal Attacks on General Gowon, Calls for Unity

The leader of Arewa in the South, Musa Saidu has strongly condemned the verbal attacks on Nigeria’s former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.

These attacks were in response to a statement made by Gowon during a visit to President Bola Tinubu, where he mentioned being accused of being too slow in prosecuting the Biafra civil war.

Saidu pointed out that it was ridiculous for people to hurl insults at a former nation’s leader and urged leaders in the East to call their people to order.

He argued that some Igbos were allegedly overheating the body polity with the rain of insult on Gowon, going as far as a half-naked girl on TikTok insulting the former nation’s leader.

The Arewa leader maintained that Gowon was not the one that declared war against the Nigerian state and he only acted to keep the unity of the country.

According to him, “The attack on General Gowon is getting out of hand. Gowon only protected the country from disintegration.

Gowon did not start the war against Nigeria.

He only defended the unity of the country as Head of State which any patriotic leader would do.”

In light of these events, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of unity and respect for our nation’s leaders, regardless of their political affiliations or past actions.

By coming together, we can work towards a more prosperous and peaceful Nigeria.
