Ben Murray Bruce, a former federal lawmaker, did not make the cut at the All Progressives Congress screening exercise for Senate hopefuls.

APC released the list of rejected senatorial candidates on Monday. Bruce's name appeared among those barred from competing in the party's primary elections scheduled for the same week.

The ex-senator hails from Bayelsa East senatorial district. He joins Donald Daunemigita of Bayelsa West and Senator Benson Agadaga, also from Bayelsa East, on the rejected list.

Aspirants who failed screening cannot proceed to the next stage of APC's nomination process. The committee could still reverse its decision if it chooses to reconsider any candidate.

All three rejected hopefuls are from Bayelsa state. Their disqualification narrows the field ahead of Monday's primary election across Nigeria.
