Party chiefs in Ifo/Ewekoro have picked Adijat Adeleye as their preferred candidate. She'll represent them in the 2027 House of Representatives race.

Adeleye served as Commissioner for Women and Social Development before now. Top APC leaders met Wednesday at Chief Joju Fadairo's home to settle on her candidacy.

The gathering brought together influential party figures from both local government areas. They called the choice a move toward unity and fair representation across the constituency.

Former Speaker Olakunle Oluomo attended the meeting. So did Ifo II State Constituency member Folawewo Fatiu Salami and ex-lawmakers Dele Obadina, Adeyemi Adekunle, and Derin Adebiyi.

After her adoption, Adeleye praised Governor Dapo Abiodun as her mentor and leader. She credited him with pushing the values of fairness and inclusive leadership that shaped this process.

She also thanked party elders and supporters across the constituency for backing her. According to her, this moment reflects what constituents truly want for their future.

Adeleye stressed that consensus-building drove the outcome, not excluding anyone. She said the focus remained on what benefits the party and the people it serves.

She urged party members to keep the unity alive as campaigns approach. Her pledge was to lead with humility and put people's interests first.
