...Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori as sole candidates come 2027
The All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders and stakeholders in Ethiope Federal Constituency has berated Member, House of Representative, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, over poor performance in the green chamber.
They also passed a vote of confidence and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Delta state Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is the sole candidate of the party in the forthcoming 2027 presidential and governorship elections.
The vote of confidence and endorsement followed an enlarged meeting of the party attended by high-profile leaders and elders, held at Eku, the residence of the party leader in the Ethiope East local government area of Delta State, Chief Bernard Edewor, in support of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori's re-election.
The motion for the vote of confidence and endorsement was moved by Chief John Obukohwo Nani, Chairman of DESOPADEC. It was seconded by Dr Ben Edoja at the meeting of the Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum held at Chief Bernard Edewor’s residence, Eku, Delta State.
The endorsement became necessary as part of recognition of President Tinubu and Governor Oboreveori's land's mark performance and transformative impacts on the people for the past two and a half years of their administration at both state and national levels.
The National Chairman of the Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum, Chief Ighoyota Amori while commending members emphasised the importance of unity, saying, "The 'Renewed Hope for MORE agenda and On Your Mandate We Stand' rely heavily on the number of votes we can mobilise for the 2027 elections," urging members to prepare for the upcoming congress.
He announced plans to establish a local government structure that extends wards and units to minimise conflict during primaries, stressing, "Anyone not present from the Ethiope Federal Constituency is already at a disadvantage."
Also speaking, Hon. Sunday Onoriode, the Director of Protocol to the Governor, said the reason for the meeting was to ensure unity among party members. He pointed out that the absence of regular meetings has hindered the grassroots organisation within the party, saying that this gathering under the umbrella of the Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum is to foster collaboration on key issues.
Onoriode said, "Those who were supposed to call for meetings and build the party have refused to do so; that is why we decided to come together to strengthen ourselves on issues that concern our party. This forum has been instrumental in yielding positive results since its inception".
Hon. Onoriode expressed his gratitude to Chief Ighoyota Amori, the National Chairman of the Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum (EFCF), mostly for uniting leaders from Ethiope East and West, pointing out that he does not see anyone more important than the leaders present at this meeting.
Meanwhile, the former House of Representatives, Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon. Hallims Agoda, has berated the member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, over poor performance in the green chamber.
Agoda made this statement during an enlarged leaders and stakeholders meeting of the Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum held at the country home of Chief Bernard Edewor, Eku, Delta State.
Agoda speaking further said, "Recently, the Edo member in the house of representatives, brought a matter concerning our federal constituency in Mosogar in terms of land acquisition, and he (the Edo lawmaker) was emphasising it.
"It is very disappointing to say, that when it got to the high point of discussion, it was the member representing Ughelli, Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Francis Waive who had to come out to defend our federal constituency and our Governor that was insulted by that lawmaker because Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu was nowhere to be found.
"That is to say, if not for Hon. Waive, who represented our Constituency, that constituency would have been abandoned. That is not representation. And so this new light we are preparing is to ensure that those who will now represent us must be intellectual and capable.
"I have represented this federal constituency for 12 years in the national assembly; and it stands for strong unity of purpose. Yes, some people have been there now after my time, precisely the young lady presently occupying the position now, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu.
"So that is not representation, because, representation shows that you need to regularly be on the floor of the house to raise issues that concern the constituency and bring it by way of motions and bills so that at the end of the day, the entire structure of the two chambers will approve and be signed by Mr. President will not be there to represent her people. It is a pity. So we need to re- define our position at this time to represent us at the green Chamber come 2027".
The APC leader in Ethiope East, Chief Bernard Edewor while speaking to newsmen at the meeting said the large turnout of leaders, elders and stakeholders is a testament of the strength of the party in Ethiope Federal Constituency and that he has no doubt that the party is prepared to deliver President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori come 2027.
Elder Godwin Ogbetuo and Chief Mike Adiotomre had also called for unity, asserting that a cohesive front is essential for delivering a resounding victory for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in 2027. They rallied participants with the mantra, "United we stand, divided we fall,” emphasizing the need for collective action leading to the elections.
Also, Hon. Loveth Idisi, Mrs. Oyibu and others urged leaders to continuously align their efforts with the Renewed Hope agenda, stressing the importance of grassroots support for both the president and the governor in 2027 elections.
The meeting was attended by notable leaders including Chief Bernard Edewor, Chief Ighoyota Amori, Hon. Sunday Onoriode, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, Chief Mike Adiotomre, Hon. Loveth Idisi, Hon. Hallims Agoda, Chief John Nani, Hon. Tony Oboro, Hon. Chris Unagba, and many others showing serious commitment in ensuring the success of Tinubu and Oborevwori's re-election.
