APC Edo Gubernatorial Race Heats Up: 12 Aspirants Cleared for Primary Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has cleared all 12 governorship aspirants ahead of the party’s primary election scheduled for February 17.

The race for the Edo State governorship seat has intensified as the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced the clearance of 12 aspirants for the primary election.

Following their approval by the party’s screening committee, the candidates are now ready to compete for the party’s ticket in the upcoming primary election.

Among the cleared aspirants are former Edo State Deputy Governor Lucky Imasuen, House of Representatives member Dennis Idahosa, and former Edo State APC Chairman Col. David Imuse (rtd.).

The party has ensured that all aspirants have met the necessary criteria and are eligible to participate in the primary election.

A committee under the direction of Prof. Julius Ihonvbere carried out the screening process with the intention of persuading applicants to consider reducing their numbers.

However, all 12 aspirants were eventually cleared to participate in the primary election.

The primary election will take place on February 17, and the winner will become the APC’s candidate for the Edo State governorship election in September 2024.

The party has stated that the primary election will be free and fair, and all aspirants will be given a level playing field.
