Anambra State Government Concerned Over Rising Fire Incidents

The Anambra State Government has expressed worry over the increasing number of fire outbreaks being recorded in different parts of the state.

In a press statement released on Sunday, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, urged residents to prioritize fire safety measures in residential and public buildings, markets, and other business premises.

Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche emphasized the importance of taking proactive steps to prevent fire incidents in the state. According to her, “The state has recorded 24 fire incidents between September 2023 and February 16, 2024.

In January 2024, there were nine fire incidents in different parts of the state, while eight fire outbreaks occurred in February.”

The Commissioner also highlighted the need for public awareness and education on fire safety measures.

She advised residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could lead to fire outbreaks.

She also called on the relevant authorities to ensure that fire safety regulations are strictly enforced in all buildings and business premises.

The Anambra State Government is taking the issue of fire outbreaks seriously and is taking steps to ensure the safety of its citizens.

It is important for residents to play their part by adhering to fire safety measures and reporting any suspicious activities that could lead to fire incidents.
