Senate President Godswill Akpabio has pledged that Akwa Ibom will produce the most votes for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in the South-South region come 2027.

Akpabio made the promise at the Government House in Uyo on Thursday. Governor Umo Eno was formally consulting party stakeholders on his own gubernatorial return.

The Senate leader praised Eno's humility and peaceful approach to governance. "He's a man of God in words and in deeds," Akpabio told the gathering of APC faithful.

Despite facing no serious opposition for his party's ticket, Eno still sought consultation from party members. Akpabio noted this showed the quality of his leadership.

Development projects across the state provided evidence of good governance, he argued. Even long-abandoned initiatives were being revived and completed for public use.

Akpabio singled out the revival of international flights at Victor Attah International Airport for special commendation. He called it a significant achievement for the state.

Gratitude to the president drove the political commitment, according to Akpabio. Tinubu had elevated one of their own to the senate presidency, he noted.

Jackson Udom, Akpabio's media aide, released the statement confirming these remarks. The consultation exercise brought together core APC members and critical stakeholders from across Akwa Ibom.

Eno's consultation strategy had become typical of his administration's inclusive approach. Party insiders saw it as preparation for a stronger showing in 2027.

Political analysts say such early mobilisation could prove crucial for next year's elections. The South-South region remains a competitive zone for presidential candidates.

Akwa Ibom's electoral strength depends heavily on turnout and party unity. Both factors appeared favourable based on Thursday's event at the Government House.
