Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to unite and sacrifice for the nation's future. He made the appeal in a message marking the Eid al-Kabir celebration.
According to him, the country stands at a crucial crossroads requiring collective action. Citizens must set aside differences to drive national development, he stressed.
"Eid el-Kabir reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim's faith, obedience and sacrifice," Akpabio said. "These are the values we must reflect as a nation," he noted.
The Senate President emphasized that Nigeria needs unity beyond religious and ethnic lines. Progress demands sacrifice and a shared sense of national purpose, he added.
Akpabio acknowledged the country is traversing a difficult period right now. This moment demands patience and sacrifice from all citizens, he explained.
"The sacrifices we make now will determine the kind of Nigeria we leave behind for the next generation," he said. Today's choices shape tomorrow's inheritance, he underlined.
He urged Nigerians to pray during the festive period for peace and stability. Security and economic growth must be priorities, Akpabio told reporters.
Members of the armed forces deserve recognition for fighting insecurity nationwide. Farmers also merit acknowledgment for producing food despite enormous challenges, he noted.
Akpabio linked the Eid message to President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. Both emphasize collective effort and long-term commitment, according to him.
He requested divine guidance for the nation's leadership going forward. Healing and unity across Nigeria are essential, the Senate President prayed.
Akpabio concluded by extending warm wishes to Muslims celebrating Eid. Both local and global Muslim communities deserve a peaceful and joyful observance, he said.
