Akeredolu promises residents more dividends of democracy at book launch in his honour

Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, on Friday, restated his  administration’s commitment to embark on more people oriented programmes in the state before the expiration of his tenure.

Akeredolu made the commitment in Akure at the presentation of a book in his honour written by the publisher of Trace News magazine, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the title of the book is “AKETI: The Courage to Lead in Trying Times, Courage, Service and Leadership.”.

Akeredolu, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said he would not be deterred, but rather strive to continue fighting for a just, sustainable and equitable society.

Akeredolu, who thanked the publisher of Trace News magazine, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, for recognising his achievements so far, added that he would not rest on his oars to develop Ondo State.

Also, Gov. Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, one of dignitaries scheduled to grace the occasion, congratulated Akeredolu and called for restructuring and true federalism in Nigeria.

Oyebanji, who was represented by the Secratary to Ekiti Government, Alhaja Habibat Adubiaro, described Akeredolu as a man of courage, who at all times fights for his people.

The Chief Host and Minister of State for Transportation, Mr Ademola Adegoroye, said Akeredolu has exhibited quality leadership with unparalleled display of courage.

“He can be credited for the power shift from the Northern part of Nigeria to the Southern part against all odds. He is a fighter for a just cause and care.

“Today, the emergence of Amotekun that has been protecting us, is due to the effort of Arakunrin (Akeredolu) and the actions he took,” he said.

The Author and Publisher of Trace News Magazine, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan said the book highlights the governor’s solution to many of Nigeria’s recurring challenges.

Adeniyan said the book was largely collection of his speeches, lectures, press statements, interviews, policies and others that chronicled the governor’s critical interventions and thoughts on Nigeria of his dream.

He listed some of the areas the  governor’s footprints would remain to include his leadership of Governor’s Forum, stance on the restructuring debate, power rotation and state police.

Others, the author said, were his patriotic and courageous handling of the herdsmen challenge and the establishment of Amotekun in the region.

NAN reports that the event attracted eminent personalities, top government functionaries and  traditional and religious leaders, who celebrated the governor’s contributionsto national development.

The high point of the event was a special presentation of a cheque to the Alma mater of the author, CAC Adu Memorial Secondary School, and unveiling of the book.
