Aiyedatiwa Vows to Immortalise Akeredolu in Moving Tribute

In a heartfelt gesture, the newly sworn-in Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has promised to immortalise his predecessor, the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Akeredolu passed away on December 28th, 2023, leaving a void in the hearts of many.

During a state-wide broadcast on January 1st, 2024, Governor Aiyedatiwa announced that he would not only give Akeredolu a befitting state burial but also immortalise his name.

He emphasised that Akeredolu’s legacy and impact on the state would never be forgotten.

The late Governor Akeredolu was known for his contributions to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of Ondo State, as well as his commitment to the growth of the Anglican Church and the legal profession in Nigeria.

Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged that Akeredolu completed and fulfilled his mission on earth, leaving behind a strong foundation for the state to build upon.

In a touching tribute, Governor Aiyedatiwa described Akeredolu as a sincere, courageous, selfless, and patriotic leader who fought for his people and touched many lives.

He emphasised that Akeredolu’s struggle for a peaceful, fair, and just society is one that will never be forgotten in a hurry.

As the state mourns the loss of Governor Akeredolu, Governor Aiyedatiwa has declared a three-day period of mourning with fasting and prayer, starting from December 28th to December 30th, 2023.

During this time, national flags will be flown at half-mast in reflection of the mood of the state.

In conclusion, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s promise to immortalise Governor Akeredolu is a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to the service of his people and the development of his state.
