Airport Runway Restored After Year-Long Hiatus: FAAN’s Ambitious Upgrade Complete

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reopened the 3.9km 18R/36L Runway at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after 12 months of upgrade and maintenance.

The runway, which was initially closed in April 2023 for an eight-week maintenance, had its period extended due to delays and other logistical issues.

The 18R/36L Runway, measuring 3,900m (12,794 ft), is a vital component of the airport’s infrastructure.
