Ahead 2027: Waive never campaigned on ‘Turn-by-Turn, but on competence’, not afraid of any contest — Chief Agbomedarho

Agbomedarho further assessed Waive’s legislative performance, stating, “The major work of a lawmaker is lawmaking. Oversight and representation. In these three departments, he has exceeded 80%. Anybody is free to contest the election. It is an election. Then the populace has the right to choose the best by way of voting.”

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Director-General of the Rev. Francis Ejiroghene Waive Campaign Council, Chief Bunor Agbomedarho, has dismissed claims that the lawmaker’s political ambition is based on a so-called turn-by-turn arrangement, insisting that Rt. Hon. Waive has always submitted himself to the will of the electorate and is not afraid of contesting against any aspirants.

Agbomedarho stated this in a telephone interview with our correspondent while reacting to a call by a political pressure group, the Consultative Forum for Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency (CF-U3).

The group had urged leaders and residents of the constituency to resist what it described as the reported third-term ambition of Hon. (Rev.) Francis Ejiroghene Waive, alleging that his return to the House of Representatives in 2027 would deny others the opportunity of representing the constituency in the Green Chamber.

Responding, Chief Agbomedarho rejected the allegation, saying, “Our immediate reaction is that Rev. Waive has never campaigned based on turn by turn. We have always campaigned based on competence or lack of it. When you have a good legislator, you keep him for as long as he can function for you. If you have a bad one, please remove him or her now.”

He argued that performance, not sentiment or pressure-group agitation, should determine who represents Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, stressing that Rev. Waive’s record in office speaks for itself.

According to him, the lawmaker has executed physical development projects across 30 of the 32 wards in the constituency. He said, “Physical development projects such as classroom blocs, solar street lights, transformers, name it. And he is always available with the people.”

He also faulted the group’s argument on tenure, reminding them that the constitution does not place limits on legislative terms. “So, him like every other person has right to contest. We have people in Delta State who are doing their 7th tenure now. There are people who are doing their 3rd and 4th term now and those people don’t have more projects than Rev. Waive. Apart from that, Rev. Waive is a unifier,” he said.

Agbomedarho, therefore, called on the people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency to disregard the call by the pressure group and instead rally behind Rt. Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive ahead of the 2027 general elections, to enable him continue what he described as the good work he is doing for the constituency.
