Agbor Train Tragedy: Oborevwori Commiserates with Bereaved Families, Commends Security Agencies, Orders Swift Rescue Response

Governor Oborevwori described the accident as a devastating and unfortunate tragedy, noting that the loss of lives had brought immense pain to the affected families and the people of Delta State.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed profound grief over the tragic train accident that occurred in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, claiming four lives and leaving several passengers injured.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.

Governor Oborevwori described the accident as a devastating and unfortunate tragedy, noting that the loss of lives had brought immense pain to the affected families and the people of Delta State.

The Governor assured residents that the state government responded immediately to the emergency by mobilising relevant authorities to the scene to provide assistance to victims and coordinate rescue operations.

According to the statement, Oborevwori directed the Commissioner for Special Duties, as well as the Chairmen of Ika South and Ika North-East Local Government Areas, to proceed without delay to the accident scene and oversee rescue and relief efforts.

He also praised security agencies for their prompt and professional intervention, revealing that the Commissioner of Police personally visited the scene and deployed adequate personnel to maintain order and protect passengers' belongings and other valuables.

The statement disclosed that injured victims were swiftly evacuated to nearby hospitals for treatment, while passengers who escaped unhurt were safely transported to town. The remains of the deceased were subsequently deposited in a mortuary.

Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the welfare and safety of residents, assuring affected families that the government would continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary support during this difficult period.
