Barely days after his inauguration as the Member representing Ika Nation on the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Cosmas Igbenije has commenced oversight of ongoing development projects, inspecting the Commission's Zonal Office project in Agbor and reaffirming his commitment to quality infrastructure and effective service delivery.
During the inspection visit on Friday, July 24, 2026, Igbenije assessed the pace and quality of work at the project site, expressing satisfaction with the level of progress recorded while stressing the importance of maintaining approved specifications, high construction standards, and timely completion.
According to him, the Agbor Zonal Office, when completed, will strengthen DESOPADEC's operational efficiency and improve access to the Commission's services for residents of Ika Nation and other benefiting oil-producing communities within the zone.
The Board Member reiterated the commitment of the DESOPADEC Governing Board to delivering impactful development projects across mandate areas, in line with the M.O.R.E. Agenda of the Delta State Government.
He noted that the Board, under the leadership of Chairman, Olorogun John Nani, and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor, remains focused on ensuring that all projects are executed efficiently, meet the required standards, and are completed for the benefit of the people.
Igbenije also assured stakeholders that he would provide effective representation for Ika Nation by closely monitoring ongoing projects and facilitating initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of communities within the mandate area.
"I remain committed to ensuring that projects meant for our people are delivered according to specification and completed on schedule. We will continue to monitor ongoing projects and support initiatives that will enhance the welfare and development of Ika Nation," he stated.
The inspection marks one of Igbenije's first official engagements since he was sworn in as the DESOPADEC Board Member representing Ika Nation, following his appointment by Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. It signals the Board's resolve to strengthen project supervision and ensure value for public investment across the Commission's mandate areas.
