A week after a tragic tanker fire claimed lives and destroyed properties in Agbor, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has pledged material support to the families of the victims.

The devastating incident occurred last Sunday when a fuel tanker lost control and burst into flames along Old Lagos Road, Agbor, in Ika South Local Government Area. The inferno claimed six lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.

Moved by the tragedy, Senator Nwoko promptly issued a public statement of condolence and dispatched a delegation to meet with the victims' families.

Speaking on behalf of the Senator, the Head of Senator Ned Nwoko’s Senatorial Office in Asaba, High Chief Ugo Asibelua, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and properties. He conveyed Senator Nwoko's heartfelt sympathies, stating that the Senator was "deeply touched by the tragic deaths and loss of properties."

In his remarks, Dr. Michael Nwoko, Senior Legislative Aide and Chief of Staff in Senator Nwoko's office, emphasized that the visit aimed to sympathize with the families and assess the extent of their losses to provide necessary assistance.

“Senator Ned Nwoko will offer appropriate financial assistance in his characteristic spirit of charity,” Dr. Nwoko stated. He urged the victims' families and those who lost properties to remain calm, assuring them of the Senator's commitment to their welfare during this difficult time.

The delegation visited the site of the tanker fire as well as the homes of several victims, including Deaconess Adomgbor Deborah, who was caught in the flames while returning from church; Donatus Udoka, a generator mechanic; and Rashidat, a bureau de change operator from Kebbi State.

Mr. Stanley Ehiedu and Mr. Alfred Idehen, the coordinators for Ika South and Ika North East Local Governments respectively, commended Senator Nwoko for his continuous efforts to uplift the material well-being of the people of Delta North and Nigerians at large.

The victims’ families expressed gratitude for the Senator's prompt intervention, describing it as a beacon of hope in their time of grief.
