Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju is impressed by the political drama unfolding in Rivers State. He's particularly drawn to the escalating clash between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Adeyanju made his feelings known Monday on Facebook. He was responding to news that the APC had disqualified assembly hopefuls backed by Fubara.
Saturday's screening exercise became the flashpoint for controversy. Only candidates loyal to Wike's faction made it through, according to the committee's list released Monday.
In his words, Adeyanju took aim at the governor's political strength. "I love what Wike is doing to Fubara.
Weak men have no business in politics in this part of the world," he wrote.
Adeyanju's criticism suggests Fubara lacks the muscle needed to protect his political interests. His comment reflects deepening tensions within Rivers APC as the two power brokers battle for control.
