Adetomiwa Adetilewa has clinched the APC's consensus ticket for Ijebu Central's House of Representatives seat. Oluneye Okuboyejo, chairman of the Governor's Advisory Council, announced the decision on Wednesday after party leaders met.
The consensus was reached following discussions among key stakeholders. Present at the handover were Arowolo Adebola, chairman of Ogun East's APC political structure, and other party officials.
Party leaders say Adetilewa's selection reflects his leadership qualities and political track record. They praised his commitment to grassroots development across the constituency.
Adetilewa thanked the party hierarchy, members and supporters for their backing. He also acknowledged rival aspirants who had pursued the same position.
"This is a victory for all of us," he told reporters at the event. According to him, the consensus approach meant there were no losers in the process.
He extended an olive branch to other aspirants immediately. "I sincerely invite my brothers and sisters who aspired for this position to join hands with me," he noted.
Adetilewa pledged to work for the constituency's progress alongside party leaders. He promised to carry all stakeholders along in his political journey.
The candidate expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu's leadership and national development efforts. He also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for supporting him.
Adetilewa assured the party that their trust wouldn't be wasted. He vowed to remain accessible to constituents and deliver quality representation.
"I will continue to listen to our leaders' wise counsel and engage our people," he said. In his words, he'd work tirelessly to justify the confidence placed in him.
He concluded by emphasizing that combined efforts would drive progress. "Together, we will achieve greater progress for our constituency and our party," Adetilewa added.
