Adesina Urges Nigerians to Support Tinubu in Tackling Economic Challenges

The President of the Africa Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, highlighted the importance of Nigerians rallying around President Tinubu to help him tackle the nation’s macroeconomic challenges.

These challenges include inflation, currency depreciation, and depletion of foreign reserves.

Adesina emphasized that instead of criticizing, it is more important for the people to offer their support and work together with the government.

He pointed out that the President’s success is ultimately the country’s collective success.

To address the fiscal challenges faced by Nigeria, Adesina suggested securing more concessional financing.

This type of financing is crucial for the country’s development, as it is almost like a grant and comes with extremely low interest rates.

Furthermore, he stressed the need to mobilize domestic resources and ensure that taxes and royalties from oil companies are paid in full.

This would help reduce the reliance on external debts and improve the country’s fiscal situation.

Adesina commended the Central Bank Governor for his efforts in managing inflation and urged the government to focus on the quality of debt, as opposed to simply taking on more debt.

In addition to discussing the economic challenges faced by Nigeria, Adesina spoke about the personal significance of the Awolowo Prize for Leadership Award.

He expressed his gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of public accountability in leadership.

The support of the Nigerian people is essential in helping President Tinubu tackle the country’s economic challenges.

By working together and implementing the suggested measures, Nigeria can overcome its current obstacles and pave the way for a brighter future.
