Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a former banker and economist, has filed his completed presidential nomination forms with the African Democratic Congress. He became the first ADC aspirant to take this step ahead of the party's primary election.
Hayatu-Deen submitted the forms in Abuja on Wednesday evening. His move consolidates his front-runner status after he'd already obtained the party's expression of interest documents first.
Speaking to supporters after the submission, he outlined his campaign priorities. He pledged to tackle the country's economic crisis, generate jobs, and restore security nationwide.
According to him, his government would focus on "aggressively lowering the skyrocketing cost of living." He also promised "a clear roadmap for mass job creation" and "a strategic plan to end insecurity across the federation."
Political observers expect more activity within the ADC in coming weeks. Other aspirants are widely expected to declare their 2027 presidential ambitions soon.
