The African Democratic Congress has unveiled fresh timelines for its 2026 primary elections. Party chiefs say the new schedule emerged after talks with leaders, candidates, and party members nationwide.

Forms go on sale from May 1 to May 4, 2026. Aspirants can then buy and submit completed forms between May 6 and May 13.

May 13 marks the submission deadline. Screening of candidates happens on May 14 and 15, according to party spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi.

Results from screening will be published on May 17. Aspirants unhappy with their screening outcome can appeal between May 18 and May 19.

A final list of approved candidates drops on May 20. State assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate primaries take place on May 21.

Governorship primaries follow on May 22. Presidential primary elections are slated for May 23.

An NEC meeting comes next on May 25. A Special National Convention wraps up the primary process on May 26.

Nomination form costs have also been revised downward. Presidential aspirants now pay N90,000,000 for their forms.

Governorship candidates fork out N30,000,000. Senate hopefuls must pay N10,000,000 for their nomination forms.

House of Representatives aspirants are charged N5,000,000. State assembly candidates pay N2,000,000.

Young aspirants aged 18 to 35 get special treatment. They enjoy a 50 percent discount on all nomination fees.

Women and persons with disabilities receive a 25 percent reduction. ADC retained these discount categories in its revised pricing structure.

According to Abdullahi, these changes aim to strengthen party democracy. He noted the moves should improve candidate access and participation rates.

In his words, the adjustments ensure ADC remains "a credible and inclusive platform for political participation." Party officials believe the new framework will attract more qualified aspirants this cycle.
