Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission is ready to hold council elections next month. The poll will pick 21 local government chairmen and 226 ward councilors across the state.
Elections are scheduled for June 13, 2026. ADSIEC held a meeting with political party leaders at its Yola office this week to review the timetable.
Alhaji Mohammed Umar, ADSIEC chairman, told party officials the commission has prepared thoroughly for success. He reaffirmed the June 13 date and urged parties to mobilize their members.
Eleven political parties have already submitted their candidates for the election. Umar asked all parties to ensure discipline among their followers during the process.
Adamu Usman represented the African Democratic Congress at the meeting. He praised ADSIEC for starting preparations early and getting ahead of schedule.
Bello Babajo chairs the Inter-Party Advisory Council. He called for elections that are free, fair, and completely transparent for all participants.
