Veteran actor Abdul Salam Taofeek, known professionally as Tioruju Mondusi, opened up about deep hurt in his marriage. He disclosed the painful details during an appearance on the African A-List podcast.
When asked about unforgiven offences, Taofeek didn't hesitate. "The only person who hurt me most is my late wife," he said.
The actor recounted traveling to a film location roughly five years back. Upon his return home, his wife—nine months pregnant with their fifth child—had vanished.
He couldn't reach her by phone initially. After two days of silence, her line finally connected.
She refused to tell him where she was. Growing concerned, Taofeek visited her mother's residence to find answers.
What he discovered shocked him completely. His wife had undergone an introduction ceremony with a married man from Ijebu, Ogun State, who already had four children.
Seeing photographs of the introduction, Taofeek called and confronted her angrily. She returned home and lashed out at him instead.
"She asked who told me I owned the pregnancy," Taofeek recalled bitterly. Days later, she delivered the child.
She then requested the naming ceremony at his compound. This was after publicly declaring the baby wasn't his.
Taofeek refused outright and grew furious. He arrested both his wife and the man involved, along with the man's friend who came pleading on their behalf.
His refusal to host the naming ceremony landed him in court. His wife sued for marriage dissolution.
During court proceedings, she made a stunning admission. Not just one child, but two of his five weren't biologically his—the third and fifth born.
She'd been involved with the Ijebu man for many years, Taofeek explained. The relationship had been long-running and deliberate.
Justice came through abandonment, though bitterly. The man she left her husband for eventually dumped her to face his actual family.
Taofeek's former wife descended into depression following the rejection. She passed away last year, he confirmed.
