Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, the Accountant-General of the Federation, has disclosed that a fake letter purporting to come from State House enabled the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) to gain official government backing, according to Vanguard's lead story.

President Tinubu declined to meet with an envoy dispatched by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss xenophobic violence, the newspaper reports.

Gen. Christopher Musa (retd), the defence minister, told reporters that President Tinubu would soon announce a salary increase for military personnel.

The Guardian warns that confidence in next month's Osun governorship election has eroded as violence escalates and voters lose their permanent voter cards (PVCs).

Lawmakers are pressing the House of Representatives to call Femi Gbajabiamila, the President's chief of staff, to testify in the ongoing PFIPC investigation, according to The Punch.

A House panel probing the PFIPC has identified 29 allegedly forged documents created by the agency, The Nation reports.
