Accord Party won't field a candidate for Abia's 2027 governorship race. The party's national leadership announced the decision on Wednesday.

Party Chairman Professor Christopher Imumolen and National Secretary Mukhtar Abdullah Djungo visited Governor Alex Otti at his home in Nvosi. They came to formally communicate the party's position to him.

Imumolen praised Otti's performance in office. He noted that opposition parties should recognize good governance, not just criticize.

According to him, Otti's achievements convinced the national office to back him for 2027. "Opposition parties exist as voices of criticism, but they must also acknowledge success," he told reporters.

Djungo reinforced the commitment in his own remarks. "We won't run anyone against the governor in Abia," he said.

He added that party executives in the state would support Labour Party efforts. "Our members will work alongside them for the people's benefit," Djungo explained.

Otti responded with gratitude to the visiting delegation. He promised to collaborate with Accord Party members going forward.

In his words, the governor stressed what politics ought to deliver. "Politics is fundamentally about people's welfare and their safety," Otti stated.

He thanked the National Working Committee for their understanding. The visit underscored growing political consensus around the governor's administration in the state.
