Abia State Takes Action as Measles Cases Emerge

Abia State has recently recorded three suspected measles cases in the Arochukwu and Umunneochi Local Government Areas.

In response, the state government has implemented preventive measures to contain the outbreak and prevent the further spread of the disease.

Dr. Joe Osuji, the Commissioner for Health, announced that the state is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its residents.

He urged parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards are fully vaccinated against measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

According to Dr. Osuji, the Abia State Primary Healthcare Development Agency is working closely with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to monitor the situation and provide support to affected communities.

The state has also set up isolation centres in the affected areas to manage and treat any confirmed cases.

The Abia State Government has called on all residents to remain calm and adhere to preventive measures such as maintaining good hygiene practices and avoiding crowded places.

The government has also urged citizens to report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility.

Abia State is taking proactive measures to address the emerging cases of measles in the region.

With the cooperation of its citizens and support from the WHO, the state aims to control the outbreak and protect its residents from the disease.
