Abia's PDP released results from its House of Representatives primary on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The party conducted the election across four federal constituencies in the state.
Amah Abraham Nnanna, the state PDP chairman, won the Arochukwu/Ohafia ticket. He defeated other aspirants in the keenly contested race.
Ikenna Onuoha chaired the electoral committee that oversaw the primary. He announced the results in Umuahia on Tuesday.
"The election followed the Electoral Act and our party constitution," Onuoha told reporters at the event. He explained that the party deployed two methods to select candidates.
According to him, officials used consensus where possible. Direct primary voting happened in constituencies where consensus failed, he noted.
Akpulonu Solomon clinched the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo ticket in a closely watched race. Humphrey Chukwudi Benson emerged victorious in Ikwuano/Umuahia.
Ajuziogu Roland won the Aba North/Aba South nomination battle. Four other federal constituencies hadn't released their results by press time.
Party officials said they'd announce remaining results shortly. Candidates across the state are now preparing for the general election.
